We received the trailer from the Job Challenge Program last week. Our thanks to them for a job well done. This past Saturday was spent at the shop of Jim KC5ODI applying the finishing touches. We still have more to do, but it’s coming together nicely. The AARC would like to thank Keith KD5OLB, Todd KD5UYZ, Jim KC5ODI, and Todd’s son Benjamin. We got a lot done Saturday and had some fun in the process. Pictures have been added to the Photo Gallery under Activities/Antenna Trailer Project.

The Ascension Amateur Radio Club would like to thank those who came out to help with the Gonzales Christmas Parade. The Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce extends their thanks as well. Although volunteer turnout was light, we still managed to pull it off without a hitch. We are looking forward to meeting with the Chamber during the year so things will go even smoother next year. Once again, thanks to those who come out and helped.

Well, another Field Day is behind us. Things went pretty well this year, we were all set up and ready to operate with about an hour to spare. We will have to tally the score, but it looks like we did way better than last year, thanks to all of those those who participated. We were able to keep two cw stations going for most of the time. This will have a big impact on our final score. If any of you who attended have photos, please send them to us at aarc@ascensionarc.org Heath Roberts KE5FRF submitted a soapbox entry on the ARRL website. Click on the link to view his submission

The 10 meter beacon is working again. It is operating on 28.211. We installed the new antenna and a new transmitter. The 145.310 repeater seems to be working a lot better too, a freshly tuned set of cans was installed on it. The 444.725 repeater still seems to have a few problems, we will have to do more work on it. Thanks to Greg and Keith for the antenna for the beacon, and to Benny for helping us out with setting it up with the new transmitter. Thanks to Todd and Adam for their help at the site. Thanks to Jim for a fine job tuning the cans.
